Each year, April 22nd, marks the birth anniversary of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Senator Nelson created Earth Day as a way to force the issue of pollution into the national agenda. On April 22, 1970, 20 million Americans went to parks, auditoriums, and streets to demonstrate for a healthy environment. Thousands of colleges organized protests, fighting against oil spills, power plant, the loss of wilderness, to initiate environmental change.

Earth day is now celebrated by more than a billion people every year. There are many ways people participate each year such as carpooling, recycling, gardening, converting to LEDs, and simply just enjoying nature.

Switching to LEDs makes a bigger difference than you may think.

Most offices currently use fluorescent tube lights which contain noxious chemicals such as mercury, contaminating the environment. LEDs typically use at least 50% less energy than traditional lighting. The high brightness of LEDs allows a single tube to frequently replace two fluorescents, plus you'll even enjoy an average of 50,000 operating hours. In that same lifespan, you'd find yourself replacing fluorescent tubes six times!

If you're still wondering if it's worth the switch, check out our savings calculator! You can figure out your savings each year and also your payback period. Once the lights are paid off, you could see another ten more years of energy savings and cost in those lights, and that money's all yours to keep!

Even better, upgrading your outside property to solar LED lights uses zero energy, and requires no wiring. It takes minutes to install your LED lights.

ELEDLights practices Earth Day everyday. We have a gym in the back of the warehouse with a personal trainer, and in the parking lot we have a basketball net, promoting healthy activities for our employees to enjoy after hours.

We have also expanded our garden by 10 feet this year! Check out our fresh goodies!

Taking care of the environment is a responsibility that everyone is accountable for. Go green today with LEDs!
