Add App-Based Control and Scheduling, No Gateway Required
Convert any fixture into a wirelessly controlled device — no gateway, no hub, no long wiring runs. Wire to line voltage alone to use the LCBC-X/B as a smart on/off switch for any fixture, indoors or out. Connect it to a 0-10V dimming circuit and it becomes a full app-controlled dimmer, with scheduling, scenes, and potential for occupancy sensing and daylight harvesting. The result: easier adjustments, finer control, and lower energy costs, all managed from your phone instead of a wall panel or an electrician visit.
-
Cut Energy Costs Without Big Infrastructure Costs: Skip the expense of a gateway or hub — install this controller at a junction box or fixture knockout, connect it to the app, and start saving on energy bills without a separate investment in control system hardware.
-
Full Control at Your Fingertips: Set, change, and fine-tune lighting schedules right from your phone — dim lights during off-hours, shut them off entirely when a space is unoccupied, or adjust the plan for a holiday or special event with ease.
- Step Up Your Savings With Compatible Sensors: Pair with RAB's Lightcloud sensor accessories to add occupancy and daylight-based control to further slash energy bills without sacrificing performance.
- Extended Range for Bigger Spaces: Reaches up to 120 ft around corners or 200-300 ft with a clear line of sight outdoors — built for warehouses, larger facilities, and multi-building sites.
-
Higher Load, Fewer Controllers Needed: Rated for 8A of LED load at 120VAC, a single controller can switch and dim a larger run of fixtures than RAB's standard line-voltage controllers.
- DLC-Qualified for Utility Rebates: This system is on the DLC's Network Lighting Controls Qualified Products List, making it eligible for rebates from participating utilities.
- Built for Indoor or Outdoor Installation: IP66-rated for dust-tight, wet-location durability.
- 5-Year, No-Compromise Warranty: Full RAB coverage when purchased through ELEDLights, an authorized RAB dealer.
Choose Your Level of Control
How much this controller does for you depends on how it's wired in — each additional connection unlocks another layer of capability.
| Tier | What You Connect | What You Get |
|---|---|---|
| 1. On/Off Switching | Line voltage only | App-based on/off and scheduling for any fixture, dimmable or not |
| 2. 0-10V Dimming | + 0-10V leads (standard driver) | True dimming down to the driver's floor (commonly 10%, 5%, or 1%), plus a genuine "off" via the controller's built-in relay |
| 3. Seamless Dim-to-Off | + 0-10V leads (dim-to-off driver) | Continuous dimming all the way to true darkness, no abrupt cutoff at the bottom of the range |
| 4. Hands-Off Automation | + Compatible sensor | Automatic occupancy- and daylight-based control, layered on top of whichever tier above is already wired in |
Not sure which tier fits your fixture? Check whether it has 0-10V dimming leads and, if so, whether the driver is rated dim-to-off. Our team can help confirm compatibility before you order.
Which Sensor Should You Use?
LCBC-X/B pairs with several Lightcloud Blue sensors, wired or wireless, depending on your ceiling height, environment, and how many devices you're commissioning.
| Sensor | Connection | Best For | Key Benefit |
|---|---|---|---|
| PIRW40/LCB | Line voltage for power; wireless to controller | Ceilings up to 39 ft, open areas with clear line of sight | Standalone mount, no fixture-specific port required; wide 40 ft detection area |
| MVSW50/LCB | Line voltage for power; wireless to controller | Ceilings up to 49ft, warehouses with racking and aisles | Microwave detection sees around obstructions that block line-of-sight PIR |
| PIRW12/LCB | Line voltage for power; wireless to controller | Ceilings up to 12 ft | Good fit for low bays, wraps, and lower-mounted fixtures on the same controller |
| LCLCSENSE/SH | Wired to controller | Standard 9 ft office ceilings | Wires directly into this controller, no separate commissioning step |
Running a small ancillary space alongside your high bay install, like a break room, closet, or restroom? RAB's battery-powered SENSE/PIR/W/LCB mounts anywhere with no wiring at all and pairs with the same app and Areas.

This video covers the full Lightcloud Blue ecosystem across many RAB products. Features like tunable white, color scenes, and SmartShift shown in the video apply to Lightcloud Blue-native fixtures with built-in color control, not to fixtures operated through this controller.
Ideal Applications
- High Bay & Warehouse Retrofits: Higher load capacity and extended range make this the right controller for high-wattage high bays and larger open floor plans.
- Exterior & Wet-Location Installations: IP66-rated in both colors, suited for canopy lights, parking structures, loading docks, and other outdoor or damp-environment fixtures.
- Multi-Room & Multi-Building Facilities: Extended range bridges greater distances between devices, reducing how many controllers you need to cover a large or spread-out site.
- Offices & Institutional Interiors: Works just as well in smaller indoor spaces as our standard-range controller, with headroom to spare if the space grows.
- Occupancy or Daylight-Based Control Upgrades: Pair with RAB's compatible PIR or MVS sensor accessories to add occupancy and daylight sensing to a fixture that previously had none.
- Multi-Zone Facility Rollouts: Group any combination of controllers into an Area — a department, a wing, a specific room type — to manage its schedule, dimming, and sensors independently from the rest of the building. A single Site supports up to 64 Areas, so a small pilot in one office and a full multi-department rollout run on the exact same system, no new platform to learn or migrate to later.
- Facilities Standardizing on Lightcloud Blue: Properties already using Lightcloud Blue-enabled fixtures and sensors can extend the same control ecosystem to legacy fixtures rather than managing a separate control system.
How Many Fixtures Can One Controller Run?*
The LCBC-X/B is rated for up to 8A of LED load at 120V or up to 3A at 277V. Because lighting is classified as a continuous load, standard electrical code practice (NEC 210.20(A)) recommends sizing to no more than 80% of rated capacity. The estimates below already build in that margin.
| Wattage (Fixture Type) | Fixtures per Controller (120V) | Fixtures per Controller (277V) |
|---|---|---|
| 15W (downlight) | Up to 51 | Up to 44 |
| 40W (troffer/panel) | Up to 19 | Up to 16 |
| 50W (panel) | Up to 15 | Up to 13 |
| 100W (low bay) | Up to 7 | Up to 6 |
| 150W (high bay) | Up to 5 | Up to 4 |
| 200W (high bay) | Up to 3 | Up to 3 |
| 240W (large high bay) | Up to 3 | Up to 2 |
*These figures are a general planning estimate only, based on standard NEC continuous-load derating guidance. They are not a substitute for a proper electrical load calculation. Actual capacity depends on the specific fixture's nameplate rating, the circuit it's installed on, and local code requirements, which vary by jurisdiction. Always verify actual fixture load against the controller's rated capacity, and consult a licensed electrician before finalizing any circuit design or installation. ELEDLights and RAB Lighting are not responsible for circuit designs based on these estimates.
Wireless Range & Network Planning
Lightcloud Blue devices communicate over Bluetooth Mesh, and network range depends on both device-to-device distance and what's standing in between them. This extended-range controller covers significantly more ground than our standard-range model, well suited to warehouses and larger facilities.
- Indoor Range: Up to 60 ft between standard building materials, or up to 200 ft in a clear line of sight.
- Outdoor Range: Up to 200-300 ft with a clear line of sight, or up to 120 ft around corners.
- Obstructions Matter: Brick, concrete, and steel construction can block or weaken the signal further. For very large or heavily obstructed sites, plan for additional controllers to bridge the mesh network across the full space.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this controller require a dim-to-off driver?
No. LCBC-X/B works with any fixture. Wire it to line voltage alone for app-based on/off switching, even on fixtures with no dimming capability at all. Add a connection to the fixture's 0-10V dimming leads for full dimming, down to whatever floor the driver supports, and the line voltage relay will cover on/off switching. A dim-to-off driver isn't required, but it does add a smoother, continuous fade all the way to true darkness.
Do I need a sensor for this to work?
No. The controller alone gives you app-based on/off, dimming, scheduling, and scenes, all without any sensor attached. A sensor adds automatic occupancy- and daylight-based control on top of that, but it's an optional upgrade, not a requirement.
How many fixtures can one controller run?
It depends on total combined wattage and your circuit voltage, not fixture count. LCBC-X/B is rated for 8A of LED load at 120V or 3A of LED load at 277V; see the fixture-count table above for estimates by wattage.
Is a Gateway or Hub required?
No. Lightcloud Blue devices communicate directly over Bluetooth Mesh with no Gateway or Hub needed. Just install the controller and connect through the app.
Does this work with non-RAB fixtures?
Yes. LCBC-X/B works with any 0-10V compatible fixture from any manufacturer, not just RAB products.
What's the difference between this and LCBLUECONTROL/B?
LCBC-X/B has a higher load rating and a longer wireless range. LCBLUECONTROL/B is better suited to smaller, single-room installs where the extra range and load capacity aren't needed.
What's the difference between LCBC-X/B and LCBC-X/W?
The color. Both are IP66-rated for indoor or outdoor use with identical load ratings and range.
