The Right Tubes for Your FixtureOne of the questions we get most often from customers looking into LED conversion is “What tubes do I need for my T12 fixtures?” While the process can be confusing due to the wide selection of tubes on the market, the good news is that ELEDLIGHTS' LED tubes work as replacements for both T12 and T8 fluorescent tubes.
T12s vs T8sThe most noticeable difference between tubes in T12 and T8 sizes is in the diameter of the tube itself. T12 tubes measure 1 ½ inches in diameter, while T8s have a diameter of just an inch. Despite this difference, you can rest assured that our bulbs are compatible in both types of fixtures as the distance between the pins of the tube is the same in either case.
Worried whether your fixture’s sockets are compatible? Good news— your T12 fixtures have non-shunted tombstones, exactly what you need for LED tubes.
Preparing your fixture for LED tubes is a simple process that can be done in minutes. Watch one of our team members walk you through the whole process below. Please note, this video involves the installation of one of our tubes into a T8 fixture, so our team member replaces the existing tombstones. While you’ll still need to complete the wiring steps in the video to make sure your tombstones work with your new LED tubes, there’s no need to replace them for LED compatibility.
